Q. Do you require a deposit of 50% down like other contractors?
A. No, We are so confident that you will be absolutely thrilled with our services we will fund the entire job. This is our guarantee to you that we know what we are doing. After work is complete, inspected and approved by you then final payment is due.
**Jobs over $8,500.00 and special orders may require a down payment**
Q. What's the number one reason I should choose Hancock Fence?
A. Plain and simple; Experience....and plenty of it. This means you will recieve a trouble free installation. No excuses, no worries, no bull. We do everything in writing that you can understand. We want you to know EXACTLY what you are getting and more importantly, what you are NOT getting. This attention to detail eliminates mistakes which lead to hard feelings and dissapointment.
Yes, we have made plenty of mistakes over the past 12 years. Each one was a learning experience and has made us much smarter. We take full responsibility for our jobs. That means when something gets broken we repair it at no cost to you, underground or not. Look closely at most of my competitors contracts and you will see that you will have to agree to hold them harmless of any damages incurred, even underground electric cables, pipes, wires and gas lines.
Q. Are your installers guys you pick up at the day labor center?
A. No, My installers are professionals & have been with me for many years. They are (in my opinion) the best in the business. They have replaced hundreds and hundreds of fences just like yours. With that said...I still to this day plan, supervise, and monitor every job like I was building the fence for my Mother!
I am proud to say "we have absolutely no unhappy customers"!
Q. I have several estimates, why are the prices so different?
A. I like to say "There's fifty different ways to build a fence and only ONE of them is correct for our area". We use only top-quality hardware, fasteners and materials. Our construction methods are the result of over twelve years of observation, changes and constant improvements. Hancock Fence builds fences that last. We do not cheat our customers with shortcuts and sneaky substitutions that lead to early failure of their new fence. A familiar quote; "The bitterness of poor quality lasts long after the sweetness of low price has faded away". So true.....
Q. What's the best way to save money on a fence?
A. Do your homework! Poor quality construction, wrong combinations of materials & fasteners and several other issues will lead to the early demise of any new fence. I have seen many of my bids lost to a lower bidder. That $200-$500 "savings" bought that poor homeowner a fence that won't last 2 years before it starts leaning & falling apart. That's NOT saving money. Warranty? Good luck. Next....Mr Homeowner gets transferred & wants to sell the house. The competition in the area is tough. His realtor suggests replacing the fence to make the property more appealing & sellable. That $350 savings just turned into another $6,200.00 expense. You would be surprised at how often this happens.
Q. Why do I see leaning fences, even when they have steel posts?
A. Our black clay soil is the worst when it comes to providing stability for home foundations and fences. The depth of the post is more important than the diameter of the hole itself. Posts must be set in concrete a minimum of 36" deep to fight the effects of expansion and contraction in our soil. We find that most posts we remove are set only 18"-20" deep. This is a very common "shortcut" that saves time and money in the beginning but always leads to a leaning, unstable fence that has little value.
Q. Can a leaning fence be straightened?
A. Yes, but its only a temporary fix. Straightening & re-cementing the existing post works for a while but it will eventually lean again because the post is not long enough. The only way to solve the problem is to replace it with a longer post that will reach the appropriate depth.
Q. I live in an area with underground rock everywhere, now what do you do?
A. You are actually LUCKY! Bedrock is your friend. Most other companies consider rock a bad thing. We embrace it, and so should you. We charge more for rock (as does everyone else) because its hard on the installers & equipment and slows down the job. BUT, this provides the ultimate in stability and long term satisfaction for your new fence.. It does not get any better or stronger than solid rock. The extra charges are used to compensate for additional time and replace expensive carbide tips for the drilling equipment.
